Masquerading as Champagne...
It might be legal, but it isn't fair. In a country of consumer rights, federal law tests our traditions. A legal loophole allows some wines to masquerade as others, misleading consumers trying to make informed decisions. Even names of American wine regions like Napa Valley and Walla Walla Valley are being misused. If consumers cannot rely on a label to clearly tell them where their wine comes from, then we cannot be certain of what we are buying. When it comes to wine, there is no ingredient more important than location. Truth-labeling is a matter of consumer protection. Unmask the truth. Demand accurate labeling.
