WHY LOCATION MATTERS

Location is becoming an increasingly important factor for consumers. Whether you're talking about foods like Idaho potatoes or Parmesan cheese, or wines from Oregon or Jerez, origin matters. Where the product comes from says something important about its quality. That’s why there is so much emphasis today on protecting place names with truth in labeling.

And indeed, the issue has gained significant momentum in recent months with the legal and legislative precedents being set that demonstrate a growing interest in mandating more honest labeling laws that ensure the location where wine grapes are grown be accurately cited on wine labels.  The issue is also a central part of bilateral trade negotiations as well.  These laws ensure accurate labelling and better protect the consumer.
